Hopper Filling Application with Burkert Angle Seat Valves

A good customer of ours had eight [8] existing Burkert angle seat valves that were installed when the facility was built around 33 years ago.  The Burkert valves all fed from separate lines into a single hopper, where the process oil was heated in the hooper, weighed on in integral scale, and dispersed to its ultimate destination.  One of the 8 Burkert angle-seat valves was inoperative, and needed replacement. The customer had exhausted all of their spare parts for these old valves, and wanted to order some spart parts for anticipated future needs.  Add to that, the OEM of the oil heater machine was no longer in business.

Not surprisingly, the original Burkert angle-seat valves were old, and obsolete.  After considerable exploration of archived files, coupled with understanding the media, its temperature, the mains voltage, and existing piping fittings/sizes, a suitable Burkert angle-seat replacement was identified that would be significantly smaller, installable with minimal change in fittings, and perform the same task as the original valves.  Since would be new, current model, a repair kit was also identified for any future need.

Given that the customer used nothing but Burkert throughout the plant, they appreciated the best fit Burkert angle-seat replacement as a current model, along with the repair kit for spare components.  They placed an immediate order for [2] Burkert angle-seat valves and [2] repair kits.  Ultimately, they intend to replace the remaining [6] angle-seat valves when resources permit time for installation.
